Albert K. Fiadjoe is Professor of Public Law
at the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill campus in Barbados. He
was Dean of the Faculty of Law and Head of its law department
between 1992 and 1995, and 1986 and 1989 respectively.
He is a leading authority in Public Law and has written widely
in this area. His numerous publications include 2 leading
texts:
1. Commonwealth
Caribbean Public Law - (This book has become the most heavily
cited book in Public Law in the Commonwealth
Caribbean.)
2. Alternative Dispute
Resolution: A Developing World Perspective.
Professor Fiadjoe has had a distinguished
career as legal educator, legal practitioner, and international
consultant in public sector and public service reform, legal
and constitutional reform and the democratic process. He
has wide experience in comparative law and legal systems of
Commonwealth African and Caribbean countries, and has been
a Member of the Law Reform Commissions of Ghana, Barbados and
Belize. He has undertaken numerous consultancy assignments
in public service regulatory reform in various countries, financial
sector legal reform, constitutional reform, local government
law, small business enterprise development and the electoral
process. He
was a senior member of the IDMAG team that developed a policy
and regulatory framework for a major reform of the public sector
in Ghana to revise the structures of government and introduce
performance management principles. His assignments have
been undertaken for international institutions and development
agencies such as the European Union, the United Nations Development
Program, the Commonwealth Secretariat, the Food and Agricultural
Organization, the World Bank, USAID, CIDA and the International
Development Research Council, and for the Governments of Ghana,
The Gambia, St Kitts-Nevis, Barbados, Belize, B.V.I, and Grenada,
among others. He has also had many senior advisory appointments
to Governments and is a member of various government commissions.
Professor Fiadjoe was educated at the University
of Ghana, where he attained his bachelor of laws degree, the
Ghana Law School and University of London where he attained
his LL.M and Ph.D degrees respectively. He
has lectured at the University of Ghana and, as Visiting Professor,
at various universities in the Unites States including UWI. He
is author of Commonwealth
Caribbean Public Law and Alternative Dispute Resolution:
A Developing World Perspective (March, 2004), as well
as numerous articles, law reports, essays, other books, and
papers at distinguished academic meetings. He is based
in Barbados and is currently a professor of Public Law at
the Faculty of Law, UWI, Barbados. Currently, he teaches both
undergraduate and graduate students. His undergraduate curriculum
includes Administrative Law and Alternative Dispute Resolution
(ADR) with occasional stints in Company Law tutorials. His
graduate curriculum includes Public Law 2 - Advance Administrative
Law and Doctoral Supervision.
He is also a:
